Khalil Capital

A small practice, by design.

Khalil Capital was founded in 2021 to do one thing: give a limited number of families the kind of coordinated, whole-picture counsel that is usually available only to those wealthy enough to employ their own staff.

Why we are in Brazil

Khalil Capital is headquartered in Santa Maria, in southern Brazil, and serves families in the United States exclusively. We say this first because you will wonder about it.

Before founding the firm, Diego Calil Gomes worked as an independent analyst for advisory firms in the United States and Canada, reviewing portfolios and retirement accounts for more than 500 households. Khalil Capital grew out of that work.

What the arrangement means for you is practical. Your assets never leave your own US custodian and remain in your name. We have no authority to move your money, and our fee is invoiced, never debited. Our working day runs one to two hours ahead of US Eastern time. And a practice with low overhead can afford to stay small.

What we will not do

  • We do not hold client assets.
  • We do not sell products.
  • We do not receive commissions or referral fees.
  • We do not advise anyone we have not met and come to understand.
A letter from the founder

I started Khalil Capital in 2021 with a simple conviction: a family's wealth should outlast the people who built it, and most of the time it does not.

Before founding the firm, I worked as an independent analyst for advisory firms in the United States and Canada. Over those years I reviewed the portfolios and retirement accounts of more than five hundred households. The work was close and unglamorous: statement by statement, account by account. It taught me more than any course could about how family finances actually look from the inside, and where they quietly go wrong.

What went wrong was rarely the investments. It was the gaps between things. An estate plan that nobody had read in a decade. A concentrated position everyone knew about and nobody had a plan for. Three capable professionals, each doing good work, none of them talking to the others. Families were paying for advice and still carrying the whole picture in their own heads.

My training is in investment management and risk management, and I remain a student of both. But the discipline I value most is older than either. Spend less than you earn. Do not mistake activity for progress. Know what you own and why. Prepare the people who will inherit, not only the money they will inherit. None of this is new, and that is the point. It has worked for a very long time.

Khalil Capital is built to be small. I do the work myself, for a limited number of families, and I am paid one fee by the people I serve and by no one else. I do not hold your assets, and I never will. What you get is one adviser who is accountable for the whole of it, and who will tell you plainly when the right answer is to do nothing, pay down the mortgage, or make the gift.

If that sounds like the kind of counsel your family has been missing, I would be glad to talk.
